Unable to play media files with WMP error message "Server Execution Failed"

Up until a week or so ago, I could view most media content without trouble, now for all video files, and some picture files only cues the message "Server Execution Failed", with WMP failing to launch. Using Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.

Media Player 12 - "Server execution failed" - Plays only one file Icon

After playing an audio or video file and then shutting it down, it's been unable to start up again. After a long pause, it would give the reason as: "Server execution failed" An OS reboot has been the only way to play another audio or video file.

Control Panel\Programs and Features\Turn Windows features on or off\Uncheck all Media Features\Reboot\recheck WMP only. I can now play a file, shut WMP down, restart it and play another file.

WMP Server Execution Failed after uninstalling Avast and installing MSE

WMP Server Execution Failed after uninstalling Avast and installing MSE Icon

I can't play any media file in WMP since I uninstalled Avast IS and installed MSE. If I start WMP from start menu programs. A window for a nano second appeared and disappeared. If I just double click on any media player.

I get an error message instantly saying "Server Execution Failed" Now look what solutions I have already tried:

1. net local group "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
2. Clear WMP Database.
3. Uninstall and install WMP from Windows Features.
4. regsvr32 jscript.dll and regsvr32 vbscript.dll command.
5. Perform a Clean Boot.

I can't restore my system to that time when AMP was working fine.

I can't have a fresh OS install just for this problem.

Media Player Play To Error "Failed to retrieve media Information from media server"

Media Player Play To Error "Failed to retrieve media Information from media server" Icon

I have a Denon AVR 1912 receiver and a PC running Windows 7 w/WMP12. When I try to use the "play to" feature I can select the receiver but get an error "Failed to retrieve media Information from media server."

I have tried to re-install WMP 12 and have tried disabling my firewall with no success. Airplay works fine, but I prefer WMP to I-Tunes.

Server execution failed? WMP

Server execution failed? WMP Icon

Whenever I try to play a .mp3 or .avi or anything of the sort with Windows Media Player, it hangs for about 15 seconds, then says "Server execution failed." Any fix for this OTHER than a clean install?

Media player "Server Execution Failed" when try to play video files

Media player "Server Execution Failed" when try to play video files Icon

I am running Windows 7 on a 64bit machine and until about 3 weeks ago everything was great. Since then, when I want to open a video file in WMP I get a "Server Execution Failed" error. I have followed all the advice I can find on these sites including uninstalling and re-installing the program, as well as fooling with 2 other fixes using the c prompt. nothing is working. Windows Movie Maker is working fine.

Ultimately I would love to get WMP working. any fixes for that would be great. Otherwise, does anyone have an alternative program that they use or have a suggestion for how to handle this issue? that is too obvious.

Windows media player: server execution failed error

Windows media player: server execution failed error Icon

When I got this error on trying to play a piece of music, I ran WMP troubleshooter which reported

* Scripting registration corrupt
* Reset Windows Media Player
* Windows Media Player Library
* Settings for Windows Media network streaming are corrupted

All the errors were shown to be fixed, and when I again tried to play the music, all was well - until I next restarted the pc when the same 'server execution' error appeared. I removed WM Centre and WM Player, rebooted, re-installed WMC and WMP and rebooted.

This time when I tried to play a song I got a very strange message that was clearly not of Microsoft origin "Trial Expired, Buy now or enter your serial number" in a mid-grey window.

I ran a full MS Essentials scan without result.
Method 1
A) Click on Start and in the search bar type cmd.exe
B) Right click on cmd.exe and click on Run as Administrator
C) In the command prompt type the following command: Net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
D) Press enter and restart the computer
E) Check if you are able to play the files in Windows media player.

Today morning I uninstalled Avast anti virus as it is going to expire within 15 days and again installed free avast antivirus of one year validity. Than after some time I tried to play some music in windows media player but it shows "Server execution failed".

Windows Media player 12 will not start + "Server Execution Failed"

Windows Media player 12 will not start + "Server Execution Failed" Icon

Since purchasing this PC (OS: Windows Home Premium) in August I have never got Windows Media Player to Open. Clicking on the icon in the start menu does nothing as well as clicking on "runs as administrator".

Furthermore, any attempt to open a media file either Video or Audio will yield a "Server Execution Failed" message. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall WMP via "Turn Windows Features on or off" as well as deleting the library (for corrupt databases) with the instruction given on these forums to no avail.

Divx, Winamp, and Spotify Media players all work fine, and I downloaded these AFTER I could not get my WMP to run.

I just need to be able to open Windows Media Player to network my Xbox 360.

WMP Server Execution Failed - after updating Windows

WMP Server Execution Failed - after updating Windows Icon

Last night I uninstalled Mcaffe antivirus security centre from my PC due to it expiring, and installed Norton 360 v. 4 instead (as work was paying for it, that was the only option I was given!) Anyway, after carrying out all the installs etc, and updating my system with the Microsoft updater, I went to try listen to some music and instead of Windows Media Player opening, I just saw it flash up then get the error "Server Execution Failed"

So I tried videos, to get the same message!

So then I tried to just open WMP on it's own from the taskbar, but it highlights and does nothing else! Really could do without the hassle of having to do a clean wipe of windows just for this stupid error!
