Error 1053 - Event log service will not start
On my Windows 7 SP1 workstation, the event log service will not start. If I try to start it manually, it immediately fails with "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." I do not have any event logs because of this error.
How do I correct this?
What's wrong... Please write below.
It showed a error message saying "Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
I fixed the space issue (cloned/expanded drive using Apricon DriveWire), but still can't get Network access.
Failed to connect to a windows service
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problems prevents
Standard users from logging on to the system. As an adminstrative user, you can review the System
Event Log for details about why the service did not respond
When I try to start Windows Event Log service (still set to automatic, but not started),
I get an Error 1747: The authentication service is unknown.
I am in as an administrator logon.
Trying to view event log gives me: "Event Log service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running"
Trying to avoid having to reinstall all apps and setting from scratch.
Event Log does not start even though it is set to automatic on startup. This also appears to prevent Task Scheduler and Event Viewer from starting as they dependent on Event Log. When I go to Services and click on Windows Event Log and then Start the service I get this error message:-
"Windows could not start the Windows Event Log service on Local Computer. Error2: The system cannot find the file specified"
I don't know how long it has been like this (possibly several months) so I am not sure if there is any appropriate restore point to revert to.
I've done a search on this problem. There was previously a similar issue on Vista whereby the solution was to delete an extraneous registry key. This solution doesn't appear to apply in Windows 7.
I have had a few BSOD on a secondary networked PC I use for some add on apps. I am pretty sure they are hardware related, but I was looking at the Event Log and it is reporting multiple errors connected with the Service Control Manager. The text is as follows :-
"The WinPcap Packet Driver (NPF) service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
The log show this has occurred 77,645 times in the last 24 hours !! There are approx 700 entries of :-
"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start."
I run McAfee AV and Firewall.
I need to know how to start my print spooler. When I try to start it I get the message 1053-could not start sprint spooler service on local printer.
This comes up when I try to download and install software and drivers for my HP 7310xi all in one printer.
My event log is jam-packed with errors! because my profile PC keeps freezing/locking up. What does event 1001, fault bucket 1514911642, type 5, event name: ServiceHang mean? . also event 1001, fault bucket 2171773997, type 5, name: AppHangB1 .
Also, event 1001, fault bucket 2067637693, type 5, name AppHang B1 . and on and on .
These are in the application logs. in the administrative events viewer, however, there seems to be a pattern of errors prior to the "kernel-power" event 41, of system needing to be rebooted without cleanly shutting down (due to crashing):
First: event 1101, eventlog: audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0
Second: event 2, kernel-event tracing error: session ""failed to start with the following error: 0xC000000D
Third: event 2, kernel-event tracing error: session "homegroup log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035
Fourth: the warning that the system had to be rebooted.
Error message repeatedly states the following:
Log name: system / source: service control manager / event ID: error 7001 general: the computer browser service depends on the server service which failed to start because of the following error: the dependency service or group failed to start.
Every time I start my computer and log in, an error message pops up when I get to my desktop:
Failed to connect to a windows service.
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.
How can I fix this?
I am logged on as administrator. using Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. can not start Event Log service.
I was trying to setup a new Share Name for the C: Drive and found that I needed to "Take Ownership" of the drive. This was my downfall (at least I think this is how I caused the problem).
Now when I restart my machine quite a few of the Automatic Services do not start. They were all Dependent on the Event Viewer.
I put TrustedInstaller back as the Owner of the C: Drive but I still get the same error:
Windows could not start the Windows event log service on local computer error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid ba a WMI data providor
I need the Event Viewer to be able to start can anyone assist?
I cannot get windows to update. I have used windows update agent fix it tool, but it always gets an error when trying to run it. I have tried turning off all firewalls and AV programs, but still cannot update.
When going to services.msc, it shows update service as stopped. when I try to start it, I get the message: 'Windows could not start the windows update service on local computer. error 0x80070057: the parameter is incorrect'
When I click check updates under the windows update program, it says can't update due to service not running.
I have checked my ipv6 and ipv4, and both are setup to automatic I have tried using tdsskiller to ensure no rootkits are present, and I'm clean. I ran AV scans and spyware scans, but all come up clean.
I have ran system file checker, and chkdsk, but both were fine. According to my update log, my last successful update was Dec 15, 2011. I including my update log for reference.
The event viewer shows: Event 7024,Service control manager
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with service-specific error %%-2147024809.
I think it may pertain to BITS not working, but I have tried all the things I could find on Microsoft forums and support solutions and still not working.
When I try to start the BITS service, I get the error -2147024809. This all seemed to start around the 15th of December according to the update logs and event viewer.
I also get the event 16392, Bits-client
The BITS service failed to start. Error 0x80070057.
I have included my windows update log and my Hijackthis log. If I understand correctly, all the files missings are due to having a x64 bit system and Hijackthis not seeing them.
