Computer Crashing while watching videos online
Over the past few days my computer has been crashing when watching video's, it doesn't blue screen or overheat and turn itself off. Previously I was able to watch stuff online and play games in full quality without it crashing, I've recently re-installed windows 7 professional and now I'm unable to even watch stuff online.
Here's a list of what I've attempted to do:
- Memtest, (no problems)
-CHKDSK, (no problems)
-Windows Memory Diagnostic, (no problems)
-Windows re-install, (problem persists)
-Graphics Drivers Updated , problem persists
-DirectX updated, Problem persists
-Windows Update, problem persists.
-Tried a variety of Media Players, problem persists
-installed K-Lite codec pack, problem persists.
I can't really think of any other solutions other then about a year ago I got my power supply unit replaced, but after that I was able to watch video's without any problems
What's wrong... Please write below.
I have an HP dv6 entertainment PC with the intel i5 core. It has been a great laptop for the almost 2 years that I have had it but recently I have had some problems watching videos online. Sometimes when I am watching videos on youtube or streaming from another site the video slows down extremely.
The video doesn't even seem to move and it sounds like a super slow motion video.
Its like its someone has slowed down the tempo and the video is starting skip.
Yesterday I noticed that while I'm watching online videos like youtube and so on my C: diskspace is shrinking. While I was watching yesterday 2 hours long E3 Sony pressconference diskspace reduced 5-6 GB.
Why this is happening ? Is it normal ? I have 4 GB of RAM on my PC. When I close Firefox diskspace returns like it was before watching. When I looked in Firefox it says that is using only 11,1MB cache.
So I've had this computer since September and have not been having any issues until I updated to Windows 7 from Vista. Everything works fine and dandy until I decide to watch a video in full screen mode. It is the worst when watching online videos.
Once the computer crashes the screen goes blank and all sound cuts out. The only way to restore the computer is to force it off. For online videos this happens in a few minutes or sometimes a few seconds and for downloaded videos this happens after a little longer, usually around thirty minutes.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled all of the graphics and sound drivers and have run hard ware diagnostics on everything repeatedly.
Also I do play very taxing games on this computer but I have never had any such issue.
So I invested in a nice new computer for myself and have only had it for about a week. I was watching some stuff on youtube and all of a sudden a BSOD pops up and restarts my computer.
I'm sure that it is no doubt some sort of driver that needs to be updated but I have no clue which one it is

The sound buzzes and sometimes restores to normal, watching films and listening to music seems to be OK it is only with online videos.
I am not technically minded and don't even know where to begin to solve this!
Since I've bought a new cisco router last summer, a Lynksys E1200, my computer (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when I stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later.
Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and I have to reboot the hard way.
This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time I bought the router.
But what makes me think its realated to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT accrue.
In the last couple of weeks or so I've started getting BSODs while watching flash videos online. It doesn't seem to matter where they're from I don't believe. It's also not a guaranteed thing with any given video, it appears to be at random but if I had to guess it takes maybe a half hour total of flash video viewing before it happens.
I updated all the drivers I could find that could be updated.
It has yet to happen any time that I wasn't actively viewing a flash video.
I have a Packard Bell iextreme with windows 7, and when I play videos it sometimes freezes, the speakers buzz and the monitor switches off. I have to force shut down. The problem comes and goes, only when playing videos, started recently.
Tried updating flash, untick enable hardware acceleration, windows updates, . still happens.
Intel(R)Core (TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.5GHz 2.50 GHz. 6GB Memory (RAM). 64-bit OS. NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 .
Crashes on seeing youtube or online videos.
