Windows Media Player won't play .mp4 files after installing IE10 - getting BEX error message

Windows Media Player won't play .mp4 files after installing IE10 - getting BEX error message Icon

Recently when I tried to play an .mp4 file on Windows Media Player, the player would immediately stop working and tell me it could not play that kind of file, even though the day before it could do it without any problem.

I had an option to close the program or click for more information, it gave me this:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: wmplayer.exe

Going back to an earlier System Restore point fixed the problem and I could play the files in Media Player again, but during the night Windows installed updates,mp4 files once again. changed my updates so they're no longer automatic, and by installing each update one at a time, I finally isolated the problem to Internet Explorer 10. If I install that, Windows Media Player just will not play these files.

I tried a manual update of Internet Explorer 10, turning off all the options for crappy toolbars and everything, thinking that when it automatically installs those may be included, Had to go back to my pre-IE10 restore point.

So no matter what, Internet Explorer 10 kills my ability to play .mp4 files on Windows Media Player.

Unable to Stream Internet TV or Netflix

Unable to Stream Internet TV or Netflix Icon

Yesterday I successfully activated windows media center. I signed up for Netflix and was able to stream a movie. A couple of hours later I attempted to connect to Internet TV. My system allowed me to connect to Windows Media Center see the Program Guide or directly go to Internet TV, search through the programs and received the information about the program but when I hit play all I get is a blank screen.

When I attempt to connect to Netflix the same thing happens except when I hit play I receive the message "Navigation to the web page was cancelled"

I have McAfee Total Protection and when I was working on Windows Media Center,Internet TV & Netflix I received a couple of warning pop-ups from McAfee. I don't remember what they said but I instructed them to block it.

I am wondering if I have blocked access to the Internet through McAfee but don't know how to confirm if this is the problem and if it is how to undo it.

MSN Games not working with IE9

MSN Games not working with IE9 Icon

I have Windows 7 64 bit.so if I want to play on MSN Games like MSN Hearts or MSN Spades (card games) for example, I have to run the 32 bit version of IE8 as the 64 bit version is not compatible and simply gives you an error upon loading the game.

Now I wanted to update to IE9 so I did but MSN Games wouldn't work giving me the same error message I used to get with the 64 bit version of IE.

So I figured it was the incompatiblity with IE x64.I tried to install the 32 bit version of IE9 but it wouldn't allow me saying that I have a 64 bit OS

Can someone give me Microsoft's email to be able to forward this error to them hoping they can fix it?

Unable to play audio files, unable to hear audio from video files

Unable to play audio files, unable to hear audio from video files Icon

I just defragmented both c: and d: drives. D: is where I keep all my media. After defragmentation, both itunes and mediamonkey are completely unable to play audio files, and VLC can play video but there is no sound.

Internet streaming plays as normal. Have I just destroyed my entire media collection by defragmenting with Windows 7's own utility?
