I have 2 tables in an MS Access database. One table (table01) contains a list of items while the other table (table02) contains other data with 1-6 of these items (from table01) associated with them. There is a relationship between these two tables. In Access, regardless of the form, report or query, everything is OK. However, when I use MS Word to do a mailmerge, everything is OK except the items from table01 appear as the ID numbers instead of the contents of the fields. Any suggestions on how to have the contents of the fields appear instead of the ID numbers?

I'm a web tech, but my boss asked me to build what he calls a "database" for him. So basically I need a customer database and I have NO CLUE what I'm doing... I'm just tinkering with all kinds of programs and completely lost. What program am I supposed to be using to build this database... I have microsoft access, but I couldn't figure it out. I downloaded Python and pHpMyAdmin, although now that I have, I don't know why.... Could some one please give me a sense of direction??? Just let me know what I need to use, and where I can learn to use it!

I am having some issues with Access 2007. When I try to import a text file into a table using a predefined spec, the routine will run for a while and then error out with the message "the search key was not found in an record". Any ideas on what this is and how I can fix it??

I am having trouble with getting the gridlines to space how I want in form design view. They are stuck at the default position. I only see lines on the x and y axis at ever number value on the ruler. I can't seem to make them occur at smaller intervals. I've gone into the form propteries window and tried to change the gridx and gridy values to somewhere between 1-64 but that doesn't do anything, and I don't see any dots on the grid either. Any ideas?

I am quite new to SQL and am having a problem displaying data from a column into a textbox. What I need to do is: On a form I have a combobox and a text box. In the combobox I have names. When I pick a name out of the combobox I need it to display the Job Title of that person in the textbox. I can either do this using SQL or just a query in Access whichever is best or easiest.

I have a combo box on a form which picks up a company, its address, phone etc. The same company can go into multiple records on the form. What my problem is that there are several contact people for each company and what I would like to know is if there is any way I can select the company for a particular record and then be able to select one contact out of the several that belong to the company. I have been to the Microsoft site and have looked at what they have which are 2 combo boxes based on 2 tables but when I try to make mine work I'm not having much success. I'm not sure whether I'm not working out the code correctly. My Access skills are self-taught - I have no programming skills.

I have a form with 2 combo boxes, the first is company name, the second is contact name. When the company name is entered a query limits the contact names to that company This works fine until the operator goes back and changes the company name or goes on to a new record the contact field never updates and the original list never changes. I'm not sure if I need VBA code or if there is another solution.

please excuse the lack of tech jargon but I'm just a humble electronics engineer new to all this forum, forms ,tables etc but am struggling to adapt a sample ms dbase( Service Call Management )as supplied with the disk v9.0 spack3 in so far as one of the forms within the dbase called Workorder Labor(note spelling) although in design & datasheet view mode the comments text box can be viewed when print preview invoice is selected invoice prints as per screen but no comments box & hence no text that was typed into the text box which can be viewed on screen. Do not know if this is a bug with this ms sample database or simply something I need to do re:a wrong parameteror something, prob is I would run debug if I knew how to if it would help

I have a large microsoft access database that is working a specific computer. When I copy the database to another computer I have an error in the database. On one of the forms I have text box which showns the current date "=date()". When I copy that db to another computer that function does not work. I have tried different computers some do and some do not function correctly. Do you have any idea how to fix this problem.

I have been working on this site for a while now, and there are a few things that I will need to do that I am unsure of. The first is that I want the users instead of Registering, to take a survey, at the end of which they will have been registered. To do this I want to keep the Survey Data, and the User Data Separate. I have below the Form Page, and the Submission page, cutting out the name of the database for security reasons. I need the data from the form, on submission to go into 2 table fields, and it's giving me some trouble. Worst of all, I would like to reference the Users ID Number, userid, from the "Users" Table, into the "Survey" Tables field userid. Among the many errors, I'm thinking there is an easier way to do all this than what I have done. Help is greatly appreciated

In Access 03, I tried printing some reports this morning but when I clicked on one of them...nothing happened. I tried to open the report in Design View, but that didn't do anything either. I found that about half of my reports can't be opened on my machine. I went to another guy's computer and was able to open my reports so I don't think the dbase is corrupt. Could security issues be at play here? I checked my macro security level and it is set to low. I was just in this dbase a few days ago to print all of these reports and had no problems from my own machine. I don't recall making any changes in Access, but something is causing this problem.

At work i usse windows xp,MS Acc 97 /outlook 2003. when trying to email a report thru Acc 97 via outlook 2003, i get a err msg "not implemented". Ive tried reinstalling both, still get the same msg. when others on their computer access the same db, they have no prob. Is my prob with Acc 97 or Outlook 2003?

I am trying to create a chart in a report based on a query. My query runs after I select a date range and the customer's name from a dialog box and it comes up with four fields: Customers name, Date, Department and Purchase Total. Now I am trying to create a column chart that has the Date and the Purchase Total. For each Date there is more than one Department and I would like that to show in those columns but it wouldn't work. Through the wizard I choose the three fields (Date, Purchase total and Department) but when I run it I get an error message; something like Microsoft Jet Database doesn't recognize one of the fields in the dialog box that I use to select the Name and Date range)! I don't understand what's that supposed to mean. When I change the Chart to a Line chart or I select only two fields from my query it does work. Would please let me what am I doing wrong? this is driving me crazy.

in excel i am importing data from an sql query. i would like to group this data by the first four letters of their sku. sample vtud23 the two numbers on the end denote the color code used for the product. how can I group them by just the first four letters. i would like the quantitys of the similar skus to be totaled. is it posible to do in the query builder some how? or in the sql portion of query builder? or how would i do this?

I'm having a little trouble with my Access database. The previous database manager has a table with fields for month as text format and not time or date. Unfortunately, I need to calculate the length of an event occurring (the length of flowering time from when it starts to when it ends in terms of the number of months) and I can't do that with the field in the text format. Is there a way that I can convert the data from text format to time format (only as the month, not as a full date like 1/1/2007)? I've tried to figure this out a number of ways, including update queries with new fields, but I always get an error message.
