bypass odbc connection
I have a MS Access 2007 database that contains a union query that merges 5 different odbc connections. If one connection is down I receive an 'ODBC--call failed' error and the query is unusable.

Is there a way to have the database verify connection and if it cannot connect to one or more odbc, to simply by-pass the odbc(s) and use the others?

ODBC--call failed. [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object
Can someone help me find out why I'm getting this error message?

ODBC call failed
Until recently, I would pull all of my tables off of the AS/400 (IBM System i) through the ODBC external data interface in Access. Now when I try to pull anything over, I get the ODBC call failed error. It was suggested to me that the error was caused by a change to our SQL server. Unfortunately our IT people have no idea how to fix the problem and I am not set up to change anything in SQL; and even if I was, I wouldn't know where to begin.

That being said, I am still able to import the data into Excel. We have an Add-In set up to Transfer data in and out of System i. What I need is the VBA code to automate the transfer process in Excel. Once I can get that piece figured out I can pull it into Access

ODBC Call Failed (#208)
I have created a pass-through query for a very simple query and I'm getting the following error.

ODBC-Call Failed
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'dbo_productMonthlyDetails'. (#208)

I'm not sure as to why. My query is .

SELECT dbo_productMonthlyDetails.MbrNo, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.ProdCode, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.ProdBenefit, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.ProdSub, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.AverageBalance, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.DebitAverageBalance, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.CreditAverageBalance, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.RetailBranch, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.CBCBranch, dbo_productMonthlyDetails.MonthendDate INTO mt_step1_product_details_data
FROM dbo_productMonthlyDetails INNER JOIN Mth ON dbo_productMonthlyDetails.MonthendDate = Mth.Mth

ODBC -- Call Failed error
I have linked a table into Accesss 2003 and the connection works fine. I can open the table and all data is returned. however when I query it in SQL I get the "ODBC--call failed." error pop up. everything in the SQL is refereced fine and if I change the table name to a local one it querys fine, it just wont query the linked one even though all the data is there and working fine

ODBC-Connection failed to sublist
I have an Access database that I upsized with the wizard wishing to continue using Access for the Front End. I want to be able to connect to the SQL database without having each computer setup for the DSN. I added this to the autoexec macro/converted to a module.

[code]

The error I get is ODBC-Connection failed.

For my testing I did create a DSN on this computer with this user that worked fine. Then when I removed the DSN connection and ran the databaseI got this message, ODBC-Connection failed, again.

Connection to Oracle through Access failed.
I am having troubles connecting Access to my Oracle database. I tried to configure my ODBC connection and when I test through ODBC it says connection is successful.

I am basically trying to follow the steps mentioned in the article on Database Journal Article "Connecting with Oracle: Accessing Oracle via Access and Excel".

I am able to perform all the steps mentioned on page 1 but I am having troubles while following the steps defined on Page 2.

When I try to connect it through Machine Data sources I get an ERROR "ODBC-- Call Failed

UNION QUERY to MYSQL Fails
I have an Access 2003 database linked via ODBC using MYSQL ODBC version 5.1 It works very well apart from UNION queries with more than 1 UNION

If I run a query with 2 UNIONS then I get an Error

ODBC – call failed. (Error 3146)
....

Looks like an issue with the MYSQL ODBC Adapter.

IF I write it as a PASS THROUGH query running on the server with the same adapter DSN, then it is fine.

Anyone any ideas of whether it is possible to get round this issue IN ACCESS without resorting to temporary tables OR PASS Through query.

Error when viewing the form in design view or closing the form
I am created a form to add row of data to a table (Access 2007). The form has been completed and tested and seems to be working perfectly in terms of adding row of data to a table and updating also works fine.

However, the problem I am facing is that when I try to edit the form (design view) or close the form, it gives an error:

ODBC --call failed

Cannot Insert the value NULL into the column. Column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated.

When this error starts to appear, I am unable to view the form in design view or save it. But I am able to make entries to the table.

I am using this VBA code for the 'Add Record' button:

local table problem
There are a lot of local tables due to the size of the linked tables in the ODBC. There is one Make Table query that I can not get to work though.

I tried creating a new query but it didn't work either. The query to make the table is
SELECT P.* INTO P_L
FROM P;

When I run it, I get an error that says "ODBC--call failed [Cache' ODBC][State : S1000][Native Code 400].".

ODBC -- call failed. | Oracle ODBC
I have an Access 2003 Database that resides on a virtual windows 2003 server that is giving me an error when I attempt to create a linked table or update any linked table that is using an odbc file dsn. The database being connected to is Oracle.

Here's the full error.

Now the weird thing is, the error is only occurring on a virtual machine while on my local development box, it works fine.

Both environments are using identical tnsfilename.ora files.

The failing server is running Windows Server 2003 with MS ODBC for Oracle v2.576.3959.000.
The dev box is running WinXP Pro with MS ODBC for Oracle v

ODBC Call Failed after Office upgrade
We have an Access 2000 database that links to 3 tables in MySQL. The program has worked fine for years, and continues to work fine on PC's that still have Office 2003/Access 2003 installed on them. However, we have started upgrading some PC's to Office 2010 Pro. On these machines, we can open the Access database, but as soon as we try and open a form that accesses the MySQL tables, we get an ODBC Call Failed error.

I thought if I upgraded the table to Access 2002/2003, that it might help so I created an upgraded version but it didn't help. I also tried upgrading the table to Access 2007, but we still get the same error.

Most of the PC's we have used a runtime of Access 2000 to open this file. I've noticed that the runtime is gone from the PC's that were upgraded to 2010.

Oracle ODBC 11g Driver
I'm having difficulties with an ODBC connection to an Oracle 11g database. I'm running Windows XP with Office 2010. I've installed the Oracle ODBC drivers and successfully created a DSN to the Oracle database. We've been able to ping the database, connect via SQL Plus and even link tables from within an Access 2002-2003 database. When I attempt to link from an Access 2007 database I get the error -

*****
ODBC--call failed.
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 127 (Oracle in OraClient11g_home1). (#160)
*****
I can't find anything to tell me what driver is not being loaded or what system error is occurring.

ODBC link error
While using on OBDC connection to link to an ORACLE table I got an error stating "ODBC call failed - [MERANT][Oracle 8 driver] optional feature not implemented. (#0). When I remove all date fields from my query I can see the data when I add them back in all fields fill with #error.

What can I di to fix this. Is it something with the merant 3.60 oracle 8 driver I used to setupmy DNS entry?
