Keydown increase value
I have a field named Letters where I want to be able to increase the number by one every time I use the keydown function. I have done this in the past but it escapes me how I did it. I guess also the value if I use the keyup key for a greater and the keydown for a lesser value.

Using the arrow keys on my keyboard to be clear. Up increase and down decreases.

Access doesn't like my coding but gives the right answer
Attempting to determine what the actual cost of a salary step increase will be during the current fiscal year. The approach used is to determine the current salary, then the new salary. Their difference would be the annualized increase.

However, the increase will not be in effect for the complete fiscal year. To determine the percentage of the year that it will be in force I use DateDiff using the salary increase date (Sal Con Date) and subtract it from the fiscal year end date which is expressed as 41455 (06/30/2013).

but I get that nasty inbox asking for a parameter.

Check Box update in Form
I have a check box in a table ("increase") and when I check this box I need a few things to happen

1. Increase Price field in the same table (+4)
2. Increase the contract end year (+1)
3. Uncheck a "option" check box in the same table

But also need the ability to uncheck the "increase" and the fields to return to the original price and year. But this is not as important as getting it to update the first time.

I have a from for this based on a query I created (I need to look at only some products and perform this task)

VB to Increase record update by 1

Current Code looks like this:

Switchboard
How can I increase the switchboard items to 12 instead of 8? At present I can have only 8 items in a switchboard page. Is there any way to increase it to 12 or more

MS Access 2010 - Changing Text Field Size Across DB?
I have a large database that has a number of existing tables and relationships. I need to increase the field size of a text field that appears in multiple tables.

My question - it seems that I need to remove the relationships before I can increase the field size - is there an alternative, or a way to keep a record of the existing relationshipsand re-instate them as they are once I have made the necessary changes across the entire database?

Issues in Create Email Options : Access
I have a table and one of it's column contains data that is a the output of a query. This column is drop down box. When I try to create email, using INFOPATH option, the drop down field with all the values is generated properly. However, the field size of the drop down box seems to be fixed. I cannot increase the size and hence some of my data {lenghty strings} is not seen fully. Is there any way to adjust/increase the size of fields in the auto generated infopath form

Calculated & Manual Entry Fields
Is there a way to have calculated field & a manual entry field at the same time in Access 2003. I have Calc Renewal Rate: ([Pct Increase]*[Expiring Rate])+[Expiring Rate]. Which is the calculated portion that I want. But, I also want to enter a manual number if I dont have a percentage increase. Example: Expiring Rate = 1000, % Inc = 10%, therefore .10*1000 = 100 + 1000 = 1100. But if I wanted to manually type in 1102 instead, it currently doesnt allow. Is there a way to have both? if yes, how

Sum totals for multiple tables
I am trying to create a make table query. I have Table A which contains all regions, which will used "Group BY" for the total. Every time I add an additional table the sums increase. So if it's just Table A and an additional table, the sums are correct. Then I add the next table and all sums increase, and so on. I am eventually trying to create one huge table that has all totals for all regions. That will be at least 9 tables with a LEFT Join to Table A regions

Strange Variance Calc in Query
I have 2 queries (let's call them A & B) base on two seperate Tables
I have a 3rd query (C) based on a third table (same info as A & B combined.
I have a 4th query so I can compare the Overtime info between the two queries.

I used the #3 join like this.
soc sec # in A joined to the soc sec # in C w a Join # 3
soc sec # in B joined to the soc sec # in C w a Join # 3.

All info and names are there. Even if there is a zero value in A. I have this formula: Increase / Decrease FY 2012 Time && Half OT Hrs: Sum([Current FY 2012 Time && Half OT Hrs]-[Last FY 2012 Time && Half OT Hrs])
to compare the the #'s from A ([Current FY 2012 Time && Half OT Hrs]) and B ([Last FY 2012 Time && Half OT Hrs]).
My problem is that when I did Straight Time: Increase / Decrease FY 2012 Straight OT Hrs: Sum([Current FY 2012 Straight OT Hrs]-[Last FY 2012 Straight OT Hrs]) everything worked. 4 names. 1 zero value w the correct calculation.

When I Did Time & Half, 62 names with about 8 zero values in A, about 10 in B. 1 record made a blank space in the A coulmn and did not do the Increase/Decrease amount. Another record made a blank space in The B coulmn and did not do the Increase/Decrease amount....

Price Update
just lookign for a little assistance with an update problem. Not sure if this can be done with a query or if I will need to use VBA.

Access 2003
I have 3 tables;
Orders
Products
ProductOrders

On my Orders form the ProductOrders are in a subform which uses a Dlookup to insert the unit price when each product is selected ( standard stuff)

There is an annual % price rise which I manage by updating the prices in the Product table and running an Update query
on all ProductOrders >= to the price increase date.

This works well but this year the prices are not a consistent % so after updating the Products table prices I need to somehow trigger a new DLookup on the ProductOrders that are >= to the price increase date.

I suspect I will need to open a recordset and loop through it but need a little help to get started

increase running query speed
I linked two query(Query1, Q1) by joining three fields in my query. When I run my query, the running speed is very low(about two minutes).how I can increase running? The SQL of my Query is:
SELECT Query1.ir, Q1.ir, Q1.installevel, Query1.installevel, Q1.id_inc, Q1.setl AS Usettle, Query1.setl AS Dsettle, [Usettle]-[Dsettle] AS DifSettel, Q1.section, Q1.topread, Q1.FDATE, Q1.INCDATE.read AS Uread, Query1.INCDATE.read AS Dread, Q1.RE
FROM Query1 INNER JOIN Q1 ON (Query1.IRP = Q1.ir) AND (Query1.id_inc = Q1.id_inc) AND (Query1.Date = Q1.Date

File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry.
I try to add id field to table and get this:

"File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry."

So I try to troubleshoot with MS recommendation (note that I'm actually using MS-Access 2010):

In Microsoft Office Access 2007 that is running on a 32-bit Windows operating system, use Registry Editor to locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\ Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\ACE
# n the right pane of Registry Editor, double click MaxLocksPerFile. # On the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Decimal.
# Modify the value of the Value data box as required, and then click OK.

I change value to 5000000 and I still get this in Access:

"File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry."

I try to change value to 9000000 and I get this from Windows XP:

"The decimal value entered is greater than the maximum value of a DWORD. Registry Editor will truncate the value entered."

So I'm not sure what to do. I'm just trying to add an id field to a table.

Textbox and its SpinControl - but i want to use both!
I have a textbox (TxtPublishYear) which contains a 4 digit year. This textbox also has a SpinControl (SpinYear) which is used to increase or decrease TxtPublishYear.

The control source of TxtPublishYear is '=[SpinYear]' (without quotes)
The control source for SpinYear is 'Publish Year' (without quotes) that being the field containing the year.

I need the Spincontrol and there's some code to limit its range (not greater than current year etc.).

The spincontrol works beautifully, spinning up or down to increase or decrease the value of TxtPublishYear.

However I also want to be able to manually edit the contents of TxtPublishYear so that someone can simply type in (say) 1997 rather than spin round to it. But when I try to edit the textbox, I get the error "Control cannot be edited; it's bound to the expression 'SpinYear'"

How can I use the spincontrol to control the textbox AND be able to edit the textbox as well

Grid control? Where are all the comtrols in 2007?
I have not used access since 97 I am having a harder time of it than I expected.

I am using a Listbox for a grid. It would be Ok if I could increase the height of the row.

Increasing a price by %
I'm a bit stuck on part of an assignment. I have to design a database for a company that is user friendly for beginner Access users. Here is the part I'm stuck on:

"I would like some sort of automatic update of selling prices. We do across-the-board selling price changes from time to time - usually increases in response to increases in materials. For example just last week we increased all selling prices by 5%. However we would want to choose the percentage - it would not always be 5%."

I know how to increase prices by a certain percentage within queries (either Select or Update queries), but how would I make this user friendly? I know I can put a button on a form to run a query, but I can't seem to figure out how to get Access to request the parameter so the company could input the percentage increase. Also not sure on the formula for doing this either. For example presuming the field is called Cost, so you have CostIncrease:[Cost]*1.1, this works for 10% but to be user friendly I would want the company to enter 10% rather than 1.1 in the parameter value box.
